The AgriSciences Platform provides an exciting mobility program designed to foster international collaboration and support researchers. The mobility grants offer a unique opportunity for researchers to visit the Czech University of Life Sciences, Prague (CZU) and engage in cutting-edge research projects.
Enjoy reading about a recent mobility recipients’ impression!
The cooperation between the Czech University of Life Sciences Prague (Faculty of Tropical AgriSciences) in the Czech Republic, and Bila Tserkva National Agrarian University in Ukraine has been ongoing for over 7 years. It is a good tradition spanning many years, to exchange teaching experience, conduct joint scientific research, collaborate in joint scientific developments, exchange students’ programmes and train young scientists in both our teams. In December 2023, I had the unique opportunity to take part in this cooperation and participated in the project “Strengthening scientific capacities and cooperation of Ukrainian universities in AgriSciences” supported by the Czech Development Cooperation via the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic. This unique project led by its Coordinator Associate Professor Ing. Hynek Roubík, Ph.D., aims to exchange experience with the CZU through the implementation of modern innovative methods and approaches in conducting scientific research, teaching techniques for university students, rebuilding the material and technical base of the university, applying modern trends in effective management and energy-saving technologies.
Our mobility started with an overview of the material and technical base of the Faculty of Tropical AgriSciences, CZU. Associate Professor Ing. Hynek Roubík, Ph.D., director of the BioResources & Technology Division (BRT), conducted a fascinating tour of the university campus, demonstrating new technologies including the concept of “green” sustainable construction, and the operation of biogas plants. It was especially interesting to observe the scientific laboratories with their powerful technical equipment in person. In addition, our team of scientists had the opportunity to see sustainable development in action. We were acquainted with the university’s eco park, farm, company store, multiple food production workshops, and the faculty greenhouse. We were very impressed by the pace at which CZU is developing and implementing its innovative research results and emphasizing its role in the European Higher Education Area. The researchers and the transition to energy-saving management technologies in communities could be taken as a basis for the next joint scientific research.
The topic of sustainable development of rural areas and efficient green technologies resources sewage in the agricultural sector continues to be a particularly relevant topic for our educational institution in the city of Bila Tserkva. Particularly because the Department of Public Management, Administration and International Economy at Bila Tserkva National Agrarian University educates the specialists in public administration, as required by the time and rural development reforms implementation in Ukraine. The main emphasis of the development of rural areas was placed on the ecological component, a topic that is extremely interesting for the Ukrainian side of the project. Specifically, the process of implementing new principles for the development of rural areas and training specialists in the field of public administration of the industry.
Overall, there are still many ideas to be developed in collaboration with the BioResources & Technology Division (BRT). Undoubtedly, such programs contribute to strengthening the potential and cooperation of scientists of Ukrainian universities, which is extremely important for the post-war development of Ukraine. The discussion of migration processes and its impact on the further development of rural areas was not omitted during the visit as well and this work was highlighted during the 5th International Multidisciplinary Conference for Young Researchers (MCYR) on October 3-4. 2024.
A bove maiore discit arare minor… a good example will surely be followed by a good result!
Sincere gratitude to Associate Professor Ing. Hynek Roubík, Ph.D and Ph.D student Marek Jelínek, for fruitful cooperation, for ideas and organization of interesting scientific projects and meetings.
Christmas in Prague, the cities architecture, and extraordinary atmosphere, will forever remain in our memory!
