Integrating Solar Power into AgriScience Education at SNAU: Empowering the AgriSci-UA Framework

The current situation requires solving a wide variety of issues in alternative energy. Therefore, the Faculty of Engineering and Technology of Sumy National Agrarian University (SNAU), together with the BioResources and TechnologyDivision (BRT) of the Czech University of Life Sciences, Prague (CZU), have created a solar power plant that allows for solving the modern needs students majoring in 141 “Electricity, Electrical Engineering and Electromechanics”. Currently, students are gaining hands-on experience by operating this equipment in real-world conditions.

Students have already studied key aspects such as calculating the required power plant capacity, selecting the necessary equipment, placement specifics and installing various electrical equipment. Further training solar power plant specialists are planned to focus on the operation and reliability of various equipment in real-world conditions.

The service and repair of solar power plants remain an important area of study. Professors of the Department of Energy and Electrical Engineering Systems, Faculty of Engineering and Technology of Sumy National University, are already developing methods to calculate various parameters and reliability indicators for various types of solar power plants. These methods are being integrated into the qualification graduation projects of higher education students. Future plans include training students in the service and repair of solar power plant equipment.

We extend our gratitude to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hynek Roubík and the BioResources and Technology Division (BRT) for their invaluable support in organising this collaboration and participation in the development of alternative energy at the Faculty of Engineering and Technology of Sumy National Agrarian University.
