enWAR_mental: Comic about the environmental impact of Russian aggression in Ukraine

From February 24, 2022, Ukrainians require a deeper understanding of environmental protection, which directly suffers from Russian aggression. Our project aims to raise awareness among young people about Russian aggression’s impact on Ukraine’s ecosystems. enWAR_mental is implemented in several stages:
• Raising awareness about the ecocide caused by Russian aggression in Ukraine.
• Learning the experience of Germany and Belgium in demilitarized territories restoration.
• Creating a video about the consequences of 21st-century wars in the world.
• Holding a poster competition about the destructive impact of war and post-war restoration of ecosystems.

You are holding the final stage of the project. In your hands, a comic tells about the environmental front’s main aspects through the characters’ emotions and mouths. Brother and sister, Yurko and Myroslava, are fleeing the war, trying to find shelter in the forests of Kyiv region, are sad because of the harmed fields of Chernihiv region, observe with their eyes atrocities against animals in Kharkiv region, pass the polluted waters of Donetsk and Luhansk region, learn about the loss of protected areas in Kherson region, the ruined landscapes of Zaporizhzhia are noted from the sky. During this journey, the children of the war get to know the heroes, symbols, and images of the bloodiest fighting of the 21st century, who are the personification of the courage and resilience of the Ukrainian people.
