BRT Brings Applied Research Expertise to International Events in Ukraine

Head of the BRT laboratory and postdoctoral researcher Assistant Professor Dr. Viktoriia Chubur contributed to two international scientific events organised by Mykolaiv National Agrarian University in Ukraine. Through presentations addressing biotechnology and renewable energy, she joined international discussions on strengthening the connections between education, scientific research and practical application.

 

 

The first event, the International Forum “Integration of Education, Science and Production,” brought together representatives of universities, research institutions, public authorities and industry to discuss current challenges in the agricultural sector and explore opportunities for innovation-driven development.

 

A central theme of the event was the need to strengthen cooperation between academic research, education and practical implementation. By bringing together participants from different sectors, the forum provided a platform for exchanging perspectives on how scientific knowledge can be translated into solutions that respond to real-world needs.

 

During the plenary session, Viktoriia delivered a lecture titled “From Knowledge to Impact: Bridging Education, Research and Industry.” Her presentation highlighted the importance of moving scientific results beyond academic settings and connecting them with practical applications.

 

The lecture particularly emphasised integrated approaches that link research, education and industry. Within the context of the circular bioeconomy, these connections can support the development of solutions that make more effective use of available resources and respond to challenges facing agriculture and related sectors.

 

 

In another event the following month, Viktoriia participated in the International Round Table “Innovations in Plant Biotechnology: Education, Science, Production.” The event focused on modern biotechnological approaches in plant science and their potential applications in agriculture.

 

Her presentation, a“Development of Biotechnologies for the Conversion of Plant Residues into Biogas,” examined how agricultural residues can be utilised as feedstock for renewable energy production.

 

The contribution addressed the challenges associated with lignocellulosic biomass, particularly its limited biodegradability. Viktoriia discussed how appropriate pretreatment strategies can improve the breakdown of plant-based materials during anaerobic digestion, contributing to greater process efficiency and increased methane yields.

 

The presentation demonstrated how biotechnology can help transform agricultural residues into valuable energy resources, connecting waste management with renewable energy production and circular bioeconomy principles.

 

 

Both events created opportunities for international knowledge exchange and interdisciplinary discussion among participants from academia, public institutions and industry. The presentations and accompanying discussions highlighted the importance of applied research, innovation transfer and cooperation across sectors.

 

Viktoriia’s participation reflects the continued engagement of the BRT in international scientific collaboration. By sharing expertise in circular bioeconomy, biotechnology and the conversion of agricultural residues into renewable energy, BRT contributes to discussions on the development of practical and sustainable research-based solutions.
