Regulatory, legislative and organizational support for the implementation of the principles of organic farming

Objectives of the project

  • To generalize the European experience in regulatory and legislative support and organizational / institutional support for the implementation of the principles of organic agriculture.

  • Identify and characterize the regional and local features of Ukraine, the Czech Republic, Germany, Switzerland (favourable social, economic and environmental conditions, problems, obstacles, barriers, value conflicts of cooperation, etc.) and the corresponding reasons for the reorientation of conventional management to organic.

  • Evaluate the success of existing international, national and regional programs (action plans) support organic agriculture.

  • Describe the existing conditions for organic agriculture: partnership between branches of government at the local, regional and national levels; availability and effectiveness of economic mechanisms of systemic harmonization of principles, legislative norms and management mechanisms of nature use and nature protection activities; improving procedures for access to information on the status and dynamics of environment and human health; ensuring intersectoral and interdepartmental harmonization of actions taking into account the interests of all social groups on the basis of partnership between the government, citizens and public associations, the private sector.

  • To propose mechanisms for coordination / harmonization of actions (interaction), exchange of innovations at the appropriate levels of management (performance of tasks).

Multidisciplinary research team composition:

The main project coordinator responsible for planning activities, schedule, financial management, achieving outputs and communication, as well as collecting data is PhD Tetiana Grabovska (Bila Tserkva National Agrarian University, Department of General Ecology and Ecotrophology).

Prof Dr Vitaliy Lavrov (Bila Tserkva National Agrarian University, Department of General Ecology and Ecotrophology) is responsible for methodological consulting.

Prof. Dr. Knut Schmidtke, from the partner institution FiBL Switzerland, he will be responsible on reaching of target audience and local administration of the project. He will provide consulting, organizational and methodical support, organizing workshops and seminars.

Dr. Hynek Roubík, Group leader of Biogas Research Team, Faculty of Tropical AgriSciences, Czech University of Life Sciences Prague. He will be responsible for the working on the final paper.

Ing. Marek Jelínek, PhD student, member of Biogas Research Team, Faculty of Tropical AgriSciences, Czech University of Life Sciences Prague. He will be participating in the data analysis and working on the final paper.
