Changes in the nutritional value of cow milk during summer heat stress

Objectives of the project

The main goal of the project is to determine the impact of seasonal (summer) heat stress (HS) on the health of dairy cows and the quality of milk through the use of resource-saving technology, when the dairy herd is kept in naturally ventilated barns throughout the year. We assume that physiological changes in the body of cows in chronic HS should significantly affect the fatty acid composition of milk, conditioning the biological and nutritional value of products made from such milk.

Key words: heat stress; dairy cows; welfare; milk quality
